PhiBrow Artistry

Michelle Lynn is a PhiBrow Artist.  The Phi Academy takes prides in providing all their students the highest quality of Microblading classes and techniques available. That’s why they are the global leader in Microblading training.

What is Microblading

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup which is implemented using a handheld tool, comprised of micro needles in the shape of a blade, hence the name Microblade. It is done by hand, not by a machine, to create crisp hair like strokes that reach the deep layers of the epidermis with pigment. Versus deeper into the dermis like traditional tattooing, which is why it is semi-permanent. The goal of Microblading is to create fuller symmetrical brows but still keep a very natural, non-makeup, look.  The shape of the brow is created with a compass tool according to a golden ratio and facial symmetry.  There are no stencils involved.

Mircroblading can last 1-3 years depending on skin type, age of skin and home care.  A yearly touch up is recommended to provide a color boost.  Some clients, though, may not need a color boost touch up for 1.5-2 years.

Day of Appointment:

  • Avoid Aspirin or Ibuprofen day of appointment - these thin the blood.  Avoid any blood thinners as these cause bleeding, swelling, hypersensitivity and slows the healing process.

  • Avoid caffeine, soda, energy drinks, coffee day of appointment.

  • Avoid alcohol 24-48 hours before appointment.

  • Please make sure to eat breakfast and/or lunch before appointment and feel free to bring snacks with you if needed while here.

1 Week Before Appointment:

  • Avoid fish oil or Vitamin E (natural blood thinner) one week prior to appointment.

  • Do not wax, tint, pick, tweeze or perform electrolysis one week prior.

2-3 Weeks Before Appointment:

  • Avoid exfoliation, peels, anti-aging or acne treatments on the brow or facial area two weeks prior to appointment; this may thin the skin.

  • Do not tan or have a sun burned face two weeks prior to appt

  • Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior

  • Do not get Botox 3 weeks prior.  Botox would be best done after Microblading is completed and healed so the shape of the brow is most accurate to your natural face shape.

Patch Test:

  • If you wanted a patch test to see if you may have any reactions to pigments, numbing creams or other products used, then this must be done before the day of appointment or it will be waived.

Healing time takes anywhere between 10-14 days and it varies with each individual’s skin type and age of skin. The brows may appear 20-40% darker and thicker immediately after treatment and during the healing time.  This is normal; do not get alarmed.  The brows will lighten during the healing process and over the next 30 days before the touch up.  They may even feel like they “disappear and reappear” during the 30 days.  This is also normal and is part of the skin’s healing process.

*Please see Post Microblading Care for detailed after care directions and what to expect.
